DEFIBRILLATORS FOR HOSPITALITY

Defibrillators in Hospitality Settings

There are around 30,000 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest emergencies each year in the UK, and approximately 13% to 20% of these occur in public areas, such as hospitality settings.

This highlights the importance of having defibrillators to hand to provide life-saving treatment.

If defibrillators are equipped in public places, it can dramatically increase the chances of survival for your guests before the emergency services arrive on the scene.

At Concept Hygiene, we’re committed to ensuring as many hospitality settings as possible have access to a defibrillator in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. To do this, you can purchase a Zoll AED directly from us or sign up for our defibrillator services package, which includes installation, ongoing support, aftercare, and product support.

Whether you’re a wedding venue, a pub, a restaurant, or another hospitality business, call 0800 996 1033 to speak to our team.

How do defibrillators work?

A defibrillator is a piece of emergency equipment that sends an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat in the event of a cardiac arrest. They can correct uneven heartbeats or hearts that are beating too slow or too fast.

Every second is precious when somebody is having a cardiac arrest. That’s why we’re so passionate about ensuring it’s easy to find the nearest defibrillator in hospitality venues in the event of an emergency.

What are the benefits of defibrillators in hospitality venues?

There are several benefits to having defibrillators within easy access at a hospitality venue – the main one being that it raises the chances of survival for people suffering from a cardiac arrest.

Before somebody has the chance to call 999, a defibrillator can be used to help someone in a life-or-death situation.

Survival rates can increase from around 6% to 74% if a defibrillator is used within the first five minutes of a cardiac arrest. The average response time for the ambulance service in the UK for a life-threatening situation is just under 10 minutes, so these vital pieces of equipment give people a fighting chance.

Other key benefits of defibrillators include:

  • They can be used by anybody, trained or not
  • They’re easy to use, compact, portable, and extremely effective
  • They provide clear voice commands to ensure the most effective action is taken in an emergency
  • They do not shock a patient unless a non-viable heart rhythm is detected

Life-saving treatment for the hospitality industry

At Concept Hygiene, we offer two ways to purchase defibrillators for the hospitality industry:

The defibrillator service package gives you a new defibrillator and comes with an annual charge, offering regular service calls, replacement pads, replacement batteries, informational signage, and a wall bracket – everything you need to set up your defibrillator.

Defibrillator FAQs

Are defibrillators easy to use?

Yes, defibrillators are easy to use. In fact, they're designed this way. A defibrillator tells the user what to do and when to do it, with audio and visual prompts. This ensures it's as easy as possible for the device to be used to save lives.

Do I need to be trained to use a defibrillator?

No, you do not need to be trained to use a defibrillator. AEDs are designed to make them easy to use in stressful emergencies. When emotions are high, and anxiety and nerves can play a part, defibrillators' instructions are designed to be easy to understand and follow so the victim can receive the care they require.

What is an AED?

AEDs are Automated External Defibrillators. They analyse the patient's heart rhythm before deciding whether to administer a shock to restart the heart. They're used on people suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest and are often found in public places like offices, shopping centres, schools, and sports clubs.

Am I required to have a defibrillator on my premises?

No, there's not currently a law in the UK that requires hospitality venues to install a defibrillator on their premises. However, as set by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers have a duty of care to their staff and guests to follow health and safety guidelines. This could include installing a defibrillator on-site in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. Call 0800 996 1033 to find out how Concept Hygiene can help your business.
