DEFIBRILLATORS LIVERPOOL

Defibrillators in Liverpool

Having life-saving defibrillators on hand can be the difference between life and death. Over 70,000 people in the UK suffer a cardiac arrest each year, with less than one in five receiving the time-sensitive treatment that’s required with a sudden cardiac arrest.

At Concept Hygiene, we’re committed to providing a range of public access defibrillators that are available to purchase outright or through one of our managed service packages. These packages include additional benefits with ongoing support from our team, from installation to aftercare and product support.

We aim to reduce the number of fatalities from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome in Liverpool and throughout the UK with Zoll defibrillators. A public access defibrillator is specifically designed to give the person suffering a cardiac arrest a greater chance of survival before the emergency services can arrive to help.

What can defibrillators do?

Defibrillators are devices used to restore a normal heartbeat by sending an electric pulse to the heart. They’re used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, which is an uneven heartbeat, or a heart that’s beating too fast or too slow.

In these moments, seconds are precious, which is why it’s important to know where your nearest defibrillator is.

The Oliver King Foundation is well aware of this, helping thousands of institutes around the UK have a defibrillator on hand in case of an emergency.

Can you justify not having a defibrillator in your workplace?

With the help of Concept Hygiene, you can ensure the staff in your Liverpool business are safe in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

What are the benefits of having an on-site defibrillator in Liverpool?

There are many benefits to having direct and easy access to a defibrillator in Liverpool. The main one is that without immediate treatment, 90-95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims will die.

Chances of survival increase from 6% to 74% just by using a defibrillator within the first five minutes of experiencing a cardiac arrest. The average response time for an ambulance in the UK for life-threatening situations is just under 10 minutes, showing that just a few moments can make a huge difference.

Other key benefits of having defibrillators close to hand in an emergency are:

  • They can be used by anybody, trained or not
  • They’re easy to use, compact, portable and extremely effective
  • They provide clear voice commands to ensure the most effective action is taken in an emergency
  • They do not shock a patient unless a non-viable heart rhythm is detected

Defibrillator FAQs

What is an AED?

An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator that analyses the patient's heart rhythm before deciding whether to administer a shock to restart the heart. They're used on people suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest and are often found in public places like offices, shopping centres, schools and sports clubs. AEDs are specifically designed so they can be used by anybody, while they also feature audio and visual alerts that highlight each step so the user can easily follow the instructions and help the person in need.

Is it a legal requirement to have a defibrillator on my premises?

Having a defibrillator on your premises is not currently a legal requirement, although by having one installed, you could save somebody's life. Over 80% of people who have a cardiac arrest will have one in a public place, and the use of a defibrillator can give them a 60% chance of survival.

Can I get funding for a defibrillator in Liverpool?

Yes, it is possible to receive funding for a defibrillator in Liverpool. If you're planning on installing one in your building, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) can help. The BHF runs a Community Defibrillator Fund that provides free defibrillator packages to eligible groups. They prioritise areas with limited access to defibrillators, with Merseyside one of the key targets in a past initiative. If you'd like some more information on this, feel free to call 0800 996 1033 to speak to our team.

Do my staff need training to use a defibrillator?

No, the beauty of the machines is that no prior training or CPR training is required before attempting to use one of the defibrillators. The machines have easy-to-read instructions printed on the front, and they come with a guidance system to help you through the procedure even during high-stress situations. 999 operators will also be able to assist over the phone, as all models of defibrillators are the same. The AEDs come with a light-up panel to guide them through the processes, and they also calculate their electrostatic shock.
